EU and US Leaders Avoid Trade War

The EU and the United States pulled back from the brink of a trade war this week, as President Donald Trump and European leaders agreed to open talks to lower tariffs and other trade barriers. In a joint statement, Trump and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said the talks would seek to resolve U.S. tariffs on European steel and aluminum, and that the two regions would hold off on any further tariffs for the time being.
