Katharyn Langat
Dr. Kathryn Langat is a researcher specializing in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, early warning, and regional security with over 10 years of experience advancing regional peace and security agendas in the Horn of Africa. She currently supports conflict early warning, research, and policy initiatives at IGAD’s Conflict Early Warning and Response Mechanism, generating evidence-based analysis to inform conflict prevention, climate security, cross-border governance, and human security interventions across the region.
Her expertise includes conflict analysis, preventive action, gender-responsive approaches, WPS, and intersectional research methodologies. She has led and contributed to the development of policy briefs, analytical reports, research publications, training materials, and knowledge products addressing conflict dynamics, displacement, violent extremism, governance, GBV, green crimes and peacebuilding. She also possesses additional technical skills in data analysis and research visualization, including Tableau and Power BI for evidence-based dashboards and reporting.
Kathryn has extensive experience working with regional institutions, government actors, research organizations, and academic institutions. She combines practical peacebuilding experience with academic expertise in green crimes, peace and conflict studies, research supervision, capacity strengthening, and stakeholder engagement in fragile and conflict-affected contexts.
She is an author, researcher, academic reviewer, and contributor to knowledge generation on conflict, peacebuilding, green crimes, governance, gender, and human security in fragile and conflict-affected contexts
