Facebook Bans Misinformation That Leads to Violence

This week Facebook announced a new policy for removing misinformation from the social media platform that is aimed at inciting or exacerbating violence. The policy tackles misleading and inaccurate information spread through the social media site that has been linked to violence in South Sudan, Myanmar and Sri Lanka. U.N. investigators have reported that extremist Buddhists in Myanmar used Facebook to spread public messages in their ethnic cleansing campaign against the Rohingya Muslim minority.
